As the WORLD BUSKERS FESTIVAL kicks off today in Christchurch (19th Jan - get there if you can), the future of the Cairns Buskers Festival is being determined by Cairns Regional Council. 

2012 will be the 5th year for this well-loved street savvy event that fills our September School holidays with international performers from all corners of the globe.  Free and on the streets, the way it should be! As many of you would know this festival was inititiated by Cairns Regional Council  in 2008.

While Cairns Regional Council deliberates over the future of the Cairns Buskers Festival  we would like to take this opportunity to say a very BIG THANK YOU to all the sponsors, audiences, performers and festival staff for their support, input, energy, commitment, funding, attendance, laughter and enjoyment over the last 4 years.

Since initiating this festival in 2008, Council's commitment and funding platforms have changed, and are now under final consideration.

For whatever reason or purpose you are visiting the Cairns Buskers Festival website it would be well worth your time and energy re-directing your views, opinions, questions, support, applications, appreciation  to Cairns Regional Council in support of the continuation of the Cairns Buskers Festival.
